In honor of the Kentucky Derby, this is horse week on my blog. First of all, congratulations to Animal Kingdom, the Thoroughbred who won this year's Derby! Because of Derby Day, I have been browsing a lot of horse-related artwork this week, and even though I am not usually a big fan of antiques, a couple of antique horse paintings really caught my eye. The first picture, a painting of a black horse, looks exactly like my big black Tennessee Walking Horse, right down to the white markings, so of course I would love to own it! The second painting, a colorful abstract of three horses, is more my style, as I prefer a more modern look. While both paintings are a bit pricey, if money were no object these beauties would be hanging on my walls as soon as I could have them delivered!
It looks like Animal Kingdom will be running in the second leg of Thoroughbred racing's Triple Crown, the Preakness -- best of luck to him! And best wishes to Archarcharch, the horse who suffered a career-ending injury in the Kentucky Derby and is now recovering from surgery, as well as to Comma to the Top and Pants on Fire, who finished the race with lesser injuries.
Do you have a cost of Painting of 3 very stylized horses, signed Anto
ReplyDeleteThis is a very old post and the website where I found the painting seems to have been taken down. I do not remember the asking price - sorry!
DeleteMy father has the 3-horse Anto painting, almost identical, slightly different background. Just googling around & found this post. Still searching for more info on painter & painting.
