Mystery Mondays: Sheila Connolly's Orchard Mystery Series

A relatively new addition to the genre, Sheila Connolly's Orchard mystery series introduces Meg Corey, a former Boston investment banker who moves to a house inherited by her mother in Granford, Massachusetts, after she loses her job and boyfriend.  Meg originally plans to improve the old house and orchard enough so that her mother can sell the place, but the arrival and subsequent murder of her former boyfriend complicate matters.  With the help of local plumber Seth Chapin, Meg solves the murder and decides that she wants to try to make a living running the old family orchard.   Although she knows nothing about running an orchard, a local university professor and one of his students help her out while she learns the business.  Her home improvement efforts are aided by Seth, who hopes to eventually give up plumbing to go into the home remodeling and restoration business.  Even two more murders do not shake Meg's resolve to stay in Granford, and the mutual attraction between her and Seth is another incentive to stay.  There are three novels in this series so far, and a fourth one is in the works.  It is hard not to like Meg and her fellow Granford residents, and I look forward to seeing if she is successful at the orchard business!
