Weekend Wardrobe: 2021 Outfit of the Week #13

This lovely veronica that I bought last year survived the winter and has returned to bloom again this year!

Last weekend I was not able to get a post done because I was recovering from my second COVID vaccine.  I got the vaccine early on a Friday afternoon, and exactly 24 hours later I developed chills, so I ended up sleeping for several hours.  When I finally woke up I felt much better and my fever was gone but I decided to take it easy for the rest of the weekend.  I was a bit tired the next day and slept again in the afternoon, but by Sunday evening I felt fine and had no other side effects.  I am so happy that I am finally fully vaccinated, and by the end of this week I will be considered fully protected, so my husband can start planning his visit to Santa Fe now!

Since I missed posting last weekend you are in for several outfits of the week, from two weeks ago as well as last week.  I will start with the outfit I wore to take my dog Madison to the vet clinic for her annual exam.  She is officially a senior dog this year so I had baseline bloodwork done for her as well.  The final verdict - Madison is "a little overweight but healthy", so we will work on getting her to lose some of the winter weight she gained (I need to work on that as well, so the two of us can diet together!).  I only went to the vet clinic that day - we still had to wait in our cars while our pets were taken inside due to the pandemic, and my car window was still broken at the time, so I wore a very casual outfit only slightly dressed up by a simple silver and pearl pendant necklace that I inherited from my mother.  Here is the complete outfit:

Clockwise from top left: Old Navy Women's Vintage Crew-Neck Sweatshirt in Snow Leopard; Novica "Nest of Lilies" Sterling Silver and Cultured Pearl Pendant Necklace (similar to mine); Craghoppers Women's Expolite Hooded Jacket in Black (similar to mine); Great American Leatherworks Braid Flap Crossbody Bag in Dark Tan (color no longer available); Nothing New Women's Eco-Friendly Crew Socks in Light Grey (similar to mine); Dockers Vargas Boat Shoes in Rust; Wit & Wisdom Women's Ab-Solution High Waist Ankle Skinny Pants in Dove Grey (similar to mine); Everlane Women's Organic Cotton Long-Sleeve Crew in Oatmeal (similar to mine).

The next day I was finally able to take my car in for its appointment to get the window fixed.  This process took a few hours but I opted to wait for my car instead of leaving it so that I could then run a few errands before heading home.  I decided to wear one of my new sweaters from J.C. Penney, a new pair of jeans in a unique color from Old Navy, and a simple necklace from my collection that is one of many given to me by my husband:

Clockwise from top left: St. John's Bay Women's Cable Crew Neck Long Sleeve Pullover Sweater in Brown Glove; Craghoppers Women's Expolite Hooded Jacket in Black (similar to mine); Great American Leatherworks Braid Flap Crossbody Bag in Dark Tan (color no longer available; MIRMARU Women's Cotton Crew Socks in Black; Dockers Vargas Boat Shoes in Rust; Old Navy Women's High-Waisted O.G. Straight Mineral-Dye Jeans in Merzouga; L.L. Bean Women's Long-Sleeve Interlock Mock-Turtleneck in Black; Center: Michael Kors Gold Tone Curb Link Pendant + Black Leather Cord Necklace (similar to mine).

I made a third trip into town that week for my COVID vaccine appointment, and then finished up more errands before heading home to take it easy for the weekend in anticipation of any vaccine side effects.  The weather was finally starting to warm up a bit, so I wore a lightweight sweater embroidered with beautiful cheetahs, and a lighter weight coat which I ended up removing as the afternoon warmed up.  I received my vaccine at the pharmacy of a supermarket that I usually do not visit (it is a little too far away to be convenient).  This was only my third visit to this store, but each time I went there I received a complement on the outfit I wore - this time someone admired my cheetah sweater.  Maybe I should shop at this supermarket more often!  Anyway, here is the outfit I wore that day:

Clockwise from top left: Lost Galleon Snake Chain Gold Necklace (similar to my much less expensive version); L.L. Bean Women's PrimaLoft Packaway Jacket in Black; Great American Leatherworks Braid Flap Crossbody Bag in Dark Tan (color no longer available; MIRMARU Women's Cotton Crew Socks in Black; Dockers Vargas Boat Shoes in Rust; Old Navy Women's High-Waisted O.G. Straight Mineral-Dye Jeans in Merzouga; Chico's Cashmere-Blend Embroidered Cheetah Sweater in Multi.

I only made one trip into town last week, mostly to pick up gardening supplies, as planting season has finally arrived here in the Santa Fe area.  The weather during the day is now consistently warm, so I wore a new long-sleeved tee with cute embroidered foxes as well as a very lightweight animal print vest.  These lighter layers were quite sufficient, and it won't be long now before I can finally start leaving the outerwear at home!  I also opted for much lighter colors that are more suitable for spring:

Clockwise from top left: Talbot's Embroidered Crewneck Tee in Champagne Rose; Hot Cotton Leopard Print Vest (no longer available - similar to mine); Great American Leatherworks Braid Flap Crossbody Bag in Dark Tan (color no longer available; Target Women's A New Day Crew Socks in Cream; Dockers Vargas Boat Shoes in Rust; Rachel Comey Norm Straight-Leg Jeans in Khaki (similar to my much less expensive pair - no longer available); Walmart Skinny Faux Leather Belt in Pink; Center: DressingVintage Extra Long Multi Strand Mixed Gold Chain Necklace (similar to mine).

🌷🌼🌹🌿🌷🌼🌹🌿🌷🌼🌹🌿🌷🌼🌹🌿🌷🌼🌹🌿🌷🌼🌹🌿

I am hoping to get a lot of gardening done this week as the weather will be mild to warm.  There is rain in the forecast for tomorrow but every time we are supposed to get rain it never materializes.  Hopefully we will get some rain soon because it has been terribly dry so far this spring. Have a great week, everyone - I hope you have been able to get your COVID vaccine scheduled, and that you are having great spring weather!

Weekend Wardrobe: 2021 Outfit of the Week #12

My husband sent me this lovely protea bouquet for our anniversary last week.  This is the second anniversary in a row we had to spend apart thanks to the pandemic 😞.  The good news is that my husband is planning to visit me in New Mexico next month, when we will both finally be fully vaccinated 😊!

Once again I missed posting last weekend, but since I was not able to get into town this past week I will describe the outfit I wore two weeks ago for my essentials shopping trip.  I did manage to get a lot done that day - in addition grocery shopping I left my dogs with the groomer for their baths and nail trims, got my car's oil changed, and went to the bank.  I was actually feeling caught up on most of the items from my to-do list, until I drove out later in the day to pick up my mail.  It was rather warm so I rolled down the two front windows, and then the passenger side window suddenly stopped working.

By the time I got back home it had fallen all the way down and would not go back up.  I called for an appointment to get the window fixed but they could not fit me in until over a week later.  This meant that I could not go anywhere since I did not want to leave my car in a parking lot with one window completely open.  Luckily I am well stocked with supplies so I did not really need to go into town at all, but I still have to pick up my mail every day, and as it has been very windy and cooler this week even these short trips are no fun (you would not believe the amount of dust that will blow into your car on a windy day!).

The day I did get into town was much warmer than normal for this time of year, so much so that I only needed a light sweater and a quilted vest to stay comfortable.  I wore one of my fun Dalmatian sweaters since I was taking my dogs with me to leave with the groomer.  I also wore my silver wishbone necklace, since dogs and bones are such an obvious match!  I don't even remember where I got this necklace, but it paired very well with my sweater:

Clockwise from top left: Tashi Silver Wishbone Necklace (similar to mine); Calvin Klein Full Zip Puffer Vest in Black (no longer available); Great American Leatherworks Braid Flap Crossbody Bag in Dark Tan (color no longer available); MIRMARU Women's Cotton Crew Socks in Black; Dockers Vargas Boat Shoes in Rust; prAna Women's London Jeans in Grey Denim (no longer available - similar to mine, also no longer available); Joules Dog Days Sweater in Navy (no longer available).

🐶🚗💉 🐶🚗💉🐶🚗💉🐶🚗💉🐶🚗💉🐶🚗💉🐶🚗💉🐶🚗💉

This week will be a busy one for me.  My dog Madison goes to the vet for her annual exam and vaccinations on Tuesday, my car (finally!) goes in to get the non-functioning window fixed on Wednesday, and on Friday I get my second COVID vaccine.  If I react to the second vaccine in the same way two of my siblings did, then I will definitely experience some uncomfortable side effects such as fever, body aches, and possibly a headache in addition to lethargy and sleepiness.  I am keeping next weekend free of any responsibilities just in case, so if you do not see a post from me it will be because I am recuperating from COVID vaccine side effects.  My siblings recovered completely after a couple of days and hopefully I will do the same.  I hope you have a productive week with beautiful spring weather!

Weekend Wardrobe: 2021 Outfits of the Week #11

My boldly colorful Easter table, featuring green, turquoise, yellow, white, and black.

I have been very remiss in getting my wardrobe posts up lately, so today I have outfits from the past three weeks.  My big news is that I have received my first COVID vaccine!  I had to go to a supermarket that I had never visited before, so I decided to check out the location the week before my scheduled appointment when I was doing my essentials shopping trip.  Below is the outfit I wore that day, now three weeks ago:

Clockwise from top left: St. John's Bay Cable Women's V Neck Long Sleeve Pullover Sweater in Blackberry Wine; Craghoppers Women's Expolite Hooded Jacket in Black (similar to mine); Great American Leatherworks Braid Flap Crossbody Bag in Dark Tan (color no longer available); Bombas Women's Solids Calf Socks in Black; Dockers Vargas Boat Shoes in Rust; Banana Republic Women's High-Rise Straight Jean in Light Wash; Draper's & Damon's Basic Mock Neck Cotton Poly Long Sleeve Tee in Heather Aubergine (color no longer available; similar to mine - Blackberry Wine color no longer available); Center: Sterling Silver Grey Pearl Pendant Necklace (similar to mine).

Someone in the store actually complemented me on the Blackberry Wine color of my sweater and tee, so I think that this reddish purple shade is actually a good color on me.  I guess I need to rethink my reluctance to wear purple!

For my return trip to the store the following week to receive my shot, I wore one of my loose-sleeved sweaters and a tee with sleeves that rolled up easily.  The whole process was relatively quick and I did not even feel the needle when I was vaccinated (although right now, ten days later, the injection site suddenly became swollen and sore, which my doctor brother tells me is not an unusual side effect).  Below is the complete outfit I wore that day:

Clockwise from top left: Acorn Favorite Cotton Sweater in Turquoise (no longer available); Craghoppers Women's Expolite Hooded Jacket in Black (similar to mine); Great American Leatherworks Braid Flap Crossbody Bag in Dark Tan (color no longer available); Target Women's A New Day Crew Socks in Cream; Dockers Vargas Boat Shoes in Rust; Coldwater Creek Knit Denim Slim-Leg Leggings in Spice (no longer available); Lands' End Women's Relaxed Cotton Long Sleeve Mock Turtleneck in Ivory (similar to mine); Center: Santo Domingo Irene Lovato Four Strand Turquoise and Orange Spiny Oyster Shell Necklace (similar to mine).

The medical professional who administered my vaccine said she loved the color of my sweater, and so do I.  I plan to add more turquoise blue apparel to my wardrobe in the future.  It is a great color for spring - bright but not too dark, and not too pale for my complexion like most pastels.

Finally, for my shopping trip last week I could not decide if the weather was going to be warm or cool, so I chose a recently purchased light cotton sweater with a thin silk top underneath, plus a quilted vest instead of a coat.  I still ended up being too warm and shed the vest layer pretty quickly - spring has definitely arrived, at least for the next week or so:

Clockwise from top left: J. Crew Factory Leopard Jacquard Pullover Sweater in Khaki Black; Calvin Klein Full Zip Puffer Vest in Black (no longer available); Great American Leatherworks Braid Flap Crossbody Bag in Dark Tan (color no longer available);MIRMARU Women's Cotton Crew Socks in Black; Dockers Vargas Boat Shoes in Rust; Banana Republic Women's High-Rise Straight Jean in Light Wash; Terramar Women's Thermasilk Pointelle Scoop Neck Shirt in Natural; Center: Gold Tree of Life Pendant Necklace (similar to mine).

We are enjoying a beautiful and warm Easter Sunday today here in Santa Fe.  You can see the Easter table I set for the day at the top of this post.  Here are a few shots of recently purchased items featured on my table:

I love the new salad plates I purchased recently - the colorful birds and butterflies really stand out on the black background.  The little glass jar contains M&M'S Peanut Butter Chocolate Easter Candy Eggs - they do not taste any different from regular peanut butter M&M'S, but the colors worked for my table.
I bought this cute penguin-shaped egg cooker way back in February but only just used it for the first time to hard-boil eggs for Easter.  I am really impressed with how easy and convenient it is to use - I can cook, cool, store, and serve the eggs in this simple little device!  (Forgive the over-exposed image - the sunlight streaming in from the window was almost more than my iPhone camera could handle.)
I treated myself to a 40-piece floral gift box of 70% dark chocolate Lindt Lindor truffles, which was so pretty I had to add it to my table decor.  The chicken-shaped egg separator is a very recent purchase - it is so cute that it made its way on to my table as well!

🐣🌷🐤🌷🐥🌷🐣🌷🐤🌷🐥🌷 🐣🌷🐤🌷🐥🌷 🐣🌷🐤🌷🐥🌷

I hope to take advantage of our beautiful weather today and get some gardening and yard work done.  I hope you are also experiencing nice spring weather and are planning something fun for the day.  And of course I have to include my favorite short Easter YouTube video - it is my annual tradition, after all!

Weekend Wardrobe: 2021 Outfit of the Week #10

The weather here this past week has been a crazy roller coaster ride.  It started out mild and felt like spring, only to turn cold and blustery by the weekend.  Luckily we did not get the blizzard that hit to the north of us in Colorado, but I do look forward to the return of warmer temperatures and especially less wind this week!  My essentials shopping trip into town was on one of the mild days - it was actually warm enough that I was able to wear a vest instead of a coat.  I decided that I would wear one of my favorite southwestern-inspired necklaces (shown above) since my vest was unzipped for most of the day and the necklace would be visible.  I have had this necklace for so long I do not even remember where it came from, but it was most likely another gift from my husband.  It is such a fun design and just makes me happy when I wear it.  Here is the entire outfit I wore:

Clockwise from top left: St. John's Bay Cable Women's V Neck Long Sleeve Pullover Sweater in Teal Marl (color no longer available); Southwestern-Inspired Necklace (from my collection); Calvin Klein Full Zip Puffer Vest in Black (no longer available); Great American Leatherworks Braid Flap Crossbody Bag in Dark Tan (color no longer available); MediPEDS Crew Socks in Black; Dockers Vargas Boat Shoes in Rust; Rachel Comey Norm Straight-Leg Jeans in Khaki (similar to my much less expensive pair - no longer available); Ultrasofts Mock Turtleneck in Black (similar to mine - color currently unavailable).

My dog Ruby is almost completely well but still needs to be on antibiotics, and it will be a while before she recovers enough muscle tone to go on long walks.  She had her surgery staples removed last Friday and went on her first short walk with the neighbor dogs the following day.  Ruby did well but got tired quickly, but if we take it slowly I think she will be back in shape in a couple of months.  According to my vet as long as Ruby is able to do these walks they are good for her and will keep her healthy, so even though my girl is 14 years old I will let her come as long as she wants to accompany us.

I hope you are adjusting to the time change and enjoying good weather - St. Patrick's Day is almost upon us and the first day of spring will be here soon, so plan to do a little celebrating if possible!

Weekend Wardrobe: 2021 Outfit of the Week #9 (and an update on my dog Ruby)

Madison and Ruby enjoy sniffing a scent in our yard on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

The great news is that Ruby is home now and doing quite well.  She lost a lot of weight because she refused to eat for days, but her appetite is back with a vengeance and she is happy to eat everything but the prescription canned dog food that the staff attempted to feed her at the vet clinic.  Ruby also lost muscle tone while at the clinic because she was on IV fluids and could not move around much, but she is mobile again and is willing to take short walks on our property.  She also roams around the house a lot, which is normal for her, and she seems to be regaining muscle slowly but surely.

Ruby's test results finally came back from the diagnostics lab in Texas (a week later than usual due to their power outage) and confirmed what I suspected was the problem - years ago she ingested a soil bacterium called Clostridium perfringens when we lived in Georgia and it is now established in her gut, where it flares up periodically and causes digestive problems.  This was a particularly virulent flare-up, and she will probably need to be on low-dose antibiotics for the rest of her life to prevent a recurrence.

Now that you have the update on Ruby, let's move on to the outfit I wore last week to run errands in town (including picking up more antibiotics for Ruby).  I recently purchased several JC Penney St. John's Bay cable knit sweaters at a fantastic price, so I decided to wear one of them last week.  I do not usually wear muted colors, and since both the sweater and jeans were rather subdued colors I had to add a hot pink long-sleeved tee to brighten up my outfit.  This is as close as I come to acknowledging spring colors, which are least suited to my coloring.

Clockwise from top left: St. John's Bay Women's Cable Crew Neck Long Sleeve Sweater in Blue Marl (currently only available in Tall sizes); Vince Camuto Chain Tassel Necklace in Silver/Crystal (similar to mine); Craghoppers Women's Venta Lite Hooded Insulated Jacket in Black (similar to mine); Great American Leatherworks Braid Flap Crossbody Bag in Dark Tan (color no longer available); MediPEDS Crew Socks in Black; Dockers Vargas Boat Shoes in Rust; prAna Women's London Jeans in Grey Denim (similar to mine); Ultrasofts Mock Turtleneck in Sangria (similar to mine).

😊🐶😊🐶😊🐶😊🐶😊🐶😊🐶😊🐶😊🐶😊🐶😊🐶😊🐶😊🐶😊

Tomorrow Ruby goes back to the vet for a recheck, and hopefully to get her surgery staples removed.  It will be a while before she resumes going on long walks with Madison and me, but I am just relieved that she is progressing so well on her road to recovery.  The weather here has turned very mild and pleasant, so for now all is well.  I am waiting to hear when I can get my COVID-19 vaccine (the neighbors I walk with in the mornings have just gotten theirs), and then perhaps the world will begin to feel more normal again.  Have a great week, everyone!

Weekend Wardrobe: 2021 Outfit of the Week #8 (but mostly about my dog Ruby)

The past week was very stressful around here.  My poor dog Ruby became very ill Monday late in the afternoon, and ended up vomiting all night long.  Unfortunately there are no emergency veterinary services in Santa Fe (I think there were only two, and both closed when the pandemic started).  The closest emergency clinics are in Albuquerque, and since I am not very familiar with the city I was afraid to take a sick dog there in an attempt to find one of the two clinics (I am very prone to getting lost).  I had to wait until 7:30 AM to get her to her regular vet, and by the time she got there she was dehydrated, feverish, and had a very high heart rate.

The vet started her on IV fluids and antibiotics immediately, and by the next morning she was well hydrated and her heart rate and temperature were normal, but she was still nauseated and refusing to eat.  She had vomited up a foreign object Monday night that none of us could identify, and even though x-rays and ultrasounds showed nothing we were afraid something was stuck in her digestive system.  She ended up having exploratory surgery on Friday, and the good and the bad news was that nothing was found.  We still did not know what was wrong, but the vet decided to put her on an appetite stimulant on Saturday.  By the time I got to visit her that day she was eating, but was still a bit groggy and sleepy from surgery.  I am waiting to hear from the vet today (Sunday) to see if the food she ate made it through her system with no problems.  If so, she can come home tomorrow.  (I decided to go ahead with this post only because I am trying to keep myself from stressing out while I wait to hear more from the vet.)

Needless to say, I have been anxious all week.  I had to make a quick trip into town on the day Ruby had surgery to pick up one of my prescriptions, so I decided I needed to wear a powerful color.  I chose head to toe plum purple, as purple to me is a strong color.  While I am normally not fond of this hue I do like the more reddish plum shade.  I also wore a little purple bear pendant under my tee for even more support.  Below is the outfit I wore for strength on the day of Ruby's surgery (it seemed to work as she came through the procedure with no problems, even though she is not a young dog):

Clockwise from top left: Acorn Favorite Cotton Sweater in Plum (no longer available); Sterling Silver and Amethyst Navajo Bear Fetish Pendant Necklace (no longer available - similar to mine); Maria's Room Super Tiny Silver Lined Purple Seed Bead Necklace (similar to mine); Craghoppers Women's Venta Lite Hooded Insulated Jacket in Black (similar to mine); Great American Leatherworks Braid Flap Crossbody Bag in Dark Tan (color no longer available); MediPEDS Crew Socks in Black; Dockers Vargas Boat Shoes in Rust; Patrizia Pepe Skinny High Waisted Jeans in Plum (similar to mine); L.L. Bean Women's Long-Sleeve Interlock Mock-Turtleneck in Plum Grape (similar to mine).

🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶

Please keep Ruby in your thoughts and prayers as she recovers from her scary health problem - she needs all the support she can get!  We are thinking that her digestive system just temporarily shut down for a while after the stress and trauma of her illness and that she should recover now - I will update this post when I hear more news from her vet.  What would we do without our pets to get us through these long pandemic days?  Take care of yourselves and your animals, everyone!

Update: Ruby got to come home today (Monday).  She is still not completely well, but I think she will recover faster at home where she is more comfortable and less stressed.  It is so good to have her back again - I missed her so while she was at the vet clinic!

Weekend Wardrobe: 2021 Outfit of the Week #7

This necklace, yet another gift from my husband, is the one I wore for my essentials shopping trip.

Like most of the nation last week, we suffered through extremely cold temperatures, blustery winds, and significant snowfall (the latter much needed here in New Mexico).  We also lost power for about six hours on the first day of the storm, but luckily our electric company had it working again before our house got too cold.  By the end of the week the storm was over, temperatures were milder, and I was able to get to town for my essentials shopping trip.  The weather was still chilly and there was snow on the ground, so I dressed appropriately:

Clockwise from top left: Polo Ralph Lauren Women's Cable Knit V-Neck Sweater in Natural (color modified to more closely resemble my similar sweater); Craghoppers Women's Venta Lite Hooded Jacket in Warm Ginger (no longer available - similar to my much less expensive version (no longer available); Great American Leatherworks Braid Flap Crossbody Bag in Dark Tan (color no longer available); EMEM Apparel Women's Crew Socks in Brown; Propet Women's Madison Mid Zip Boots in Espresso (no longer available); Gloria Vanderbilt Women's Amanda Jeans in Coffee Roast; St. John's Bay Women's Mock Neck Long Sleeve T-Shirt in Ivory; Center: Multi-Strand Tan and White Bead Necklace (similar to mine).

The next day I took my dog Ruby in for her second laser therapy treatment for arthritis, which does seem to do her some good.  Here is the outfit I wore for this quick trip into town:

Clockwise from top left: Acorn Favorite Cotton Sweater in Red (no longer available); Vintage African Carved Animal Necklace (similar to mine); Craghoppers Women's Venta Lite Hooded Jacket in Warm Ginger (no longer available - similar to my much less expensive version (no longer available); Great American Leatherworks Braid Flap Crossbody Bag in Dark Tan (color no longer available); EMEM Apparel Women's Crew Socks in Brown; Dockers Vargas Boat Shoes in Rust; Gloria Vanderbilt Women's Amanda Jeans in Coffee Roast; St. John's Bay Women's Mock Neck Long Sleeve T-Shirt in Chocolate Chip.

This is the necklace I wore when I took my dog to the vet - it is one of two that I actually made myself many years ago when I when through a brief crafty phase (the pandemic has me thinking I might want to try more crafts again!)

❄️⛄️❄️⛄️❄️⛄️❄️⛄️❄️⛄️❄️⛄️❄️⛄️❄️⛄️❄️⛄️❄️⛄️❄️⛄️❄️⛄️❄️

We are in for warmer weather this week, thank goodness, although winter is not over yet in this part of the nation so I am sure we will see more cold and snow again before spring arrives.  I hope everyone out there is doing well and that those who lost power and water due to the weather have them restored by now.  Take care, and stay safe!

Weekend Wardrobe: 2021 Outfit of the Week #6

Happy Valentine's Day!  I have been caught up in too many different activities lately, so there was no wardrobe post last week, but I am finally caught up enough to get a post out today.  I did manage to find the time to set a Valentine's Day table (shown above).  Even though my husband and I are miles apart, it was important to me to do something to celebrate this special holiday.

My dogs were one of the reasons I was so busy last week.  My old dog Ruby started laser therapy for arthritis, and will probably need some chiropractic work for a pinched sciatic nerve as well, but hopefully these treatments will help her feel less painful when she walks.  Both dogs went in for a bath last Tuesday, and I ran a few errands while I waited for them - here is the outfit I wore that day (it was an unusually mild day, so I only needed a camisole under my sweater to stay warm):

Clockwise from top left: Crown & Ivy Crab Sweater in Navy (similar to mine, which has an all red crab and is no longer available - I wish this colorful one was available in my size!); Craghoppers Women's Venta Lite Hooded Insulated Jacket in Black (similar to mine); Great American Leatherwork Braid Flap Crossbody Bag in Dark Tan (color no longer available); MIRMARU Women's Crew Socks in Navy (similar to mine); Dockers Vargas Boat Shoes in Rust; prAna Women's London Jeans in Grey Denim (similar to mine); Forever 21 Basic Cotton-Blend Cami in White (similar to mine); Center: Sterling Silver Pearl Crab Pendant Necklace (similar to mine).

Friday of last week I realized I had forgotten to go to the bank, so back to town I went.  The otherwise mundane outfit I wore included a red sweater in honor of both Valentine's Day and the Chinese New Year (the latter because in these pandemic times we need all the good luck we can muster)!

Clockwise from top left: Kim Rogers Women's Cable Knit V-Neck Sweater in Red (similar to mine); Craghoppers Women's Venta Lite Hooded Insulated Jacket in Black (similar to mine); Great American Leatherwork Braid Flap Crossbody Bag in Dark Tan (color no longer available); MIRMARU Women's Crew Socks in Navy (similar to mine); Dockers Vargas Boat Shoes in Rust; Banana Republic Women's High-Rise Straight Jean in Light Wash (no longer available); L.L. Bean Women's Interlock Long-Sleeve Mock-Turtleneck in White; Center: Sterling Silver Link and Bar Chain Necklace (no longer available - similar to mine).

💝🎉💝🎉💝🎉💝🎉💝🎉💝🎉💝🎉💝🎉💝🎉💝🎉💝🎉💝🎉💝

We are having a severe cold spell for Valentine's Day, with blustery winds, blowing snow, and extremely frigid temperatures.  Our power went out for about six hours in the evening, which meant this post went out later than intended, but at least it is done.  I hope you had an enjoyable day, and that your week will only get better as it progresses (ours will certainly be warmer after today)!

Weekend Wardrobe: 2021 Outfit of the Week #5

Though off topic for this post, January 31st is National Hot Chocolate Day, so of course I had to make myself a nice big mug full of hot chocolate!  My version is made from a praline-flavored white hot chocolate mix, and is topped with decadent chocolate-flavored marshmallows stuffed with more chocolate, called Stuffed Puffs.  If you have not tried chocolate-stuffed marshmallows yet, I highly recommend them, especially in hot chocolate (according to one reviewer, they are also fantastic in coffee).  Our local Walmart carries the vanilla-flavored Stuffed Puffs marshmallows, but no longer has the double chocolate ones.  The latter can be found here or on Amazon, although they are a bit pricey and come in units of two or more bags only.

Back to the topic of the day, I made one quick trip into town last week, mostly to mail some letters and pick up some items for my horse, and I decided that I was going to wear my new Coldwater Creek sweater (which is sadly already sold out!).  I paired it with Coldwater Creek denim leggings I bought a couple of years ago, and added a pink stone turtle pendant necklace which complemented the lighter pink hue in the sweater.  It was a comfortable outfit with just enough color to make me happy - I just wish I had a more colorful coat!  Here is the complete outfit:

Clockwise from top left: Coldwater Creek Spirit Striped Intarsia Pullover Sweater in Fawn Multi (no longer available - I did not wear it with a denim shirt); Pink Coral Turtle Pendant Necklace (similar to mine); Craghoppers Women's Venta Lite Hooded Insulated Jacket in Black (similar to mine); Great American Leatherworks Braid Flap Crossbody Bag in Dark Tan (color no longer available); EMEM Apparel Women's Dress Socks in Navy (similar to mine); Dockers Vargas Boat Shoes in Rust; Coldwater Creek Knit Denim Mid Rise Leggings in Dark Wash (similar to my older version); Anvil Ladies' Featherweight Long-Sleeve Scoop-Neck T-Shirt in Coral (color slightly modified to more closely resemble my similar tee).

 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

It's hard to believe that January ends today - February is a busy birthday month for my family, and I need to remember to get those birthday cards in the mail on time.  I also have to get both birthday and Valentine's Day gifts ordered and sent to my husband, so I had better get to work.  Have a great week, and a great February as well!

Weekend Wardrobe: 2021 Outfit of the Week #4

The rather neutral-colored outfit I wore for my essentials shopping trip into town last week featured a necklace that I have been wanting to wear for a while but for some reason never got around to until now.  It is one of my favorites, and features green turquoise beads with a couple of silver ones plus a cute little pony pendant.  This necklace was yet another gift from my husband - I think I am very lucky my husband has such good taste in jewelry!  Here is the outfit:

Clockwise from top left: Kim Rogers Women's Cable Knit V-Neck Sweater in Heather Grey (color modified slightly to resemble my similar sweater); Green Turquoise Horse Pendant Necklace (similar to mine); Craghoppers Women's Venta Lite Hooded Insulated Jacket in Black (similar to mine); Great American Leatherworks Braid Flap Crossbody Bag in Dark Tan (color no longer available); Bombas Women's Solids Calf Socks in Black; Dockers Vargas Boat Shoes in Rust; Land's End Women's High Rise Compression Straight Leg Colorful Jeans in Dark Olive Green (similar to mine); Ultrasofts Mock Turtleneck in Black (similar to mine).

🐎🐴🐎🐴🐎🐴🐎🐴🐎🐴🐎🐴🐎🐴🐎🐴🐎🐴🐎🐴🐎🐴🐎🐴🐎

We are supposed to get some rain and/or snow today, and we could certainly use it as we have been in a drought for quite a while now.  The past couple of days have been unusually warm but it will be turning cold by the middle of the week.  This has been a much milder and drier winter than last year - I don't mind the milder temperatures, but I do hope we get more precipitation soon!  Enjoy your week no matter what the weather!
