Terrifying Tuesdays: Ghost Story Double Feature

For this week's Halloween theme of ghost stories, I have chosen "The Sixth Sense" (1999)and "The Others" (2001) as the movie double feature.  Anyone who, like me, is a big fan of ghost movies will have already seen these two films, and probably multiple times, but both movies are good enough to watch yet again.  For those few individuals who have not seen them, the first film is the tale of a young boy who, with the help of a child psychologist, learns to accept his unique relationship with the spirit world, while at the same time helping the psychologist come to a self-discovery of his own.  In the second movie, a mother raising her two young children alone in an isolated house while awaiting the return of her soldier husband learns from unexpected sources that the fear and desperation she feels are due to circumstances she least expects.

Bonus Classic: For an excellent classic ghost-themed movie, watch "The Uninvited" (1944), in my opinion one of the best supernatural films ever made.

Gore Guide (0=none to 5=extreme): 1 for "The Sixth Sense", 0 for the other two

  1. "The Uninvited" is my very favorite scary movie. I think you have excellent taste when it comes to vintage movies!! The other two are way too scary......although Haley Joel Osment is a "must see" - he was fabulous. Katie

    1. I am a big horror movie fan, but for me the classics are always best. I prefer movies that can frighten without being graphic. "The Uninvited" manages to be effectively spooky as well as occasionally lighthearted thanks to Ray Milland's character -- the perfect ghost story!
