The winner of the HGTV 2012 Green Home in the eco-friendly community of Serenbe near Atlanta has been selected! The Jones family from Katy, Texas, made the trip to Serenbe over the weekend to accept the keys:

An HGTV special detailing the winners' visit will be aired on August 17th. I wonder if the Jones family will keep the home? If so, they will be our neighbors, since we recently bought our future retirement house there:
My husband isn't quite ready to retire yet so it will be a while before we actually make the move from our current location, but we are looking forward to many trips to our soon-to-be hometown until then. For those who have never had the chance to visit Serenbe, check out this YouTube video series (be sure to watch all three parts):
Serenbe is a lovely place, and if the Green Home winners decide to keep the home I am sure they will enjoy living there, as I know we will. And if you ever get the chance to visit this unique community, don't pass it up!
