Enough with the pastels and pale hues for spring - I am ready for some bold color! The wardrobe I created for today will transition from spring to early summer, so I feel that shades of yellow-orange and purple like those found in the image above will work just fine (ignore the fact that the photo features fall leaves!). Luckily the ivory-colored sky adds a color that will tone down the more vibrant hues.
Let's start with the first set of four, which includes pants and three tops:
Clockwise from top left: Everleigh Roll-Tab Sleeve Tunic in Purple; April Cornell Golden Sun Flounce Tunic; BP Tie Waist Surplice Top in Purple Sunset Hidden Hearts; Eileen Fisher Tapered Linen Ankle Pants in Undyed Natural. |
The second set of four is also comprised of pants and three tops:
Clockwise from top left: Coldwater Creek Ruffled Henley Tee in Boysenberry; Eileen Fisher Organic Linen Knit Top in Mango; BP Tonal Stitch Linen Blend Shirt in Ivory Dove; Eileen Fisher Crepe Pants in Musk. |
Set number three repeats the pants and three tops combination, but primarily in shades of purple:
Clockwise from top left: Socialite Stripe Smocked Waist Tee in Pastel Stripe; Duluth Trading Company Women's Longtail T Short Sleeve T-Shirt in Purple Mountain Heather; BP Shadow Rib Mock Neck Tank in Purple Sunset; Blair Flat Waist Washed Denim Jeans in Passion Flower. |
The final set of four finally brings in a bit more apparel variety, adding cropped pants, a pair of shorts, and a summery dress plus one more top:
Clockwise from top left: prAna Foundation Short Sleeve V-Neck Top in Curry Heather Stripe; Theory Pleated Shorts in Light Linen; Eileen Fisher Organic Cotton Short Dress in Marigold; Eileen Fisher Organic Linen Straight Cropped Pants in Undyed Natural. |
And here is the complete 4x4 basic wardrobe:

The combination of purple with yellow-orange is not for everyone, but for those exuberant souls who love bold color and like to stand out in a crowd this wardrobe provides so many fun and exciting outfit possibilities. Next week I will add accessories that will bring even more eye-catching interest to a wardrobe that is definitely not for the shrinking violet!
