This 'n That Thursdays: Wonderfully Quirky and Unique Homes for Sale

From Estately.

I love quirky homes!  In fact, if I were twenty years younger and did not have to keep my husband's house style preferences in mind, I would happily move into the home shown above (and described in an earlier post here).  Even though I know I will never convince my husband to consider an unusually unconventional house, I still like to look at what is on the market and imagine the possibilities.  Below are four delightfully unique homes currently available:

1) This whimsical fairy tale cottage in Olalla, Washington, is for sale at $775,000.  The 2,800 square foot home has 4 bedrooms and 4.5 baths, and sits on about 5 acres.  Read more about the home here.

2) A sleek 2,300 square foot dome home in New Paltz, New York, on about 28 wooded acres, this home is listed for $699,000.  The most unique feature of the 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home is the fact that the whole structure can be rotated by remote control to take advantage of passive solar energy!  Read more about this house here.

3) This sculptural house in Lakeway, Texas, was designed by John Covert Watson, who apprenticed under Frank Lloyd Wright, and is on the market for $1,075,000.  The 2,240 square foot home has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths, and sits on a wooded bluff overlooking Lake Travis.  Find out more about the property here.

4) Built with a unique "triangle" theme, this 4 bedroom, 2.25 bathroom home in Kirkland, Washington, is 2,760 square feet in size and is being offered at $700,000.  Apparently in need of a lot of work, it is being sold as a fixer upper, but the views are spectacular.  Read about this house here.

So what do you think?  Would you be willing to live in an offbeat oddball of a house?  For me, the only downside I could see, as long as the home was in good shape, would be all the curious people anxious to get a look at the most unique house in the neighborhood!
