Terrifying Tuesdays: Still Life (2005) from Brookstreet Pictures

Last week we saw demonic dolls at work.  This week I bring you menacing mannequins in a clever, if gruesome, little short film from Brookstreet Pictures.  The main character in "Still Life" (2005) finds himself in an odd little town after running low on gas.  An accident causes him to flee in panic from bizarre lifelike figures that only seem to move when he is not looking, but the real threat in this film is not revealed until the very end.  I've watched a fair number scary short films on YouTube recently (or at least made the attempt, since many are not very good) and this is by far one of the best.  Check it out and judge for yourself!

Beware! (from Divxstation)

Not surprisingly, my first exposure to creepy mannequins was on a Twilight Zone episode called "The After Hours", which you can view on Hulu here or on YouTube in three parts here.  This tale also has a twist at the end, but is much less terrifying than "Still Life", though equally good.  Needless to say, I am not likely to spend time in a room alone with these supposedly inanimate objects any time soon!

Gore Guide (0=none to 5=extreme):  This one was difficult to rate, but I'll give it a "3".
