If you are not already entering for a chance to win the HGTV Dream Home 2014, you might want to start now! This lovely modern mountain home is located in the Schaffer's Mill community of Truckee, California, which is only a short distance from popular Lake Tahoe. The prize, which includes $250,000 and a 2015 GMC Yukon Denali in addition to the house, is worth over $2 million. You can enter twice a day through February 14, 2014. I adore this Dream Home -- of all the homes given away over the years, this one is closest to my personal preference for architectural style, and I have always been more interested in mountain homes than coastal ones. My favorite room in the house is the second floor family room. I love the red-orange leather sofa and chair, and surely the designer had me in mind when she chose the horse art:
The kitchen is wonderfully open and spacious, but what I truly covet is the wooden tile mosaic backsplash on the sink wall:
The front porch entry is so inviting, and I would be happy to own the sideboard and painting in the foyer:
