Paring knives are real workhorses in our kitchen. We use them to slice just about everything, whether they are the best knife for the job or not. Just because they are utilitarian does not mean they cannot also be attractive, and the Kuhn Rikon Nautical Paring Knives from Sur la Table are some of the prettiest I've seen. Of course we are partial to the red lobster design ($9.95), but the blue anchor ($9.95) and white sailboat ($11.95, two dollars more for some reason) designs would also be great choices for anyone who loves the sea, no matter where they live.
